چکیده

This article studies the indicator properties of gastropods common in Upper Syr Darya River basin. They are divided into ecological groups according to their habitats. The generally accepted and zoological methods were used research. According research results, fresh-water Fergana Valley inhabit xenosaprobic, oligosaprobic, β – mesosaprobic, α mesosaprobic polysaprobic waters. Molluscs mainly distributed stagnant water bodies. substrate most mollusks aquatic plants. KEY WORDS: gastropods, bioindicator, saprobity, group, pollution.

Optimization of Syr Darya Water and Energy Uses

Since independence, joint use of water resources in the Aral Sea basin has been a critical international problem between the Central Asian republics, especially in the Syr Darya basin where the tradeoffs between use of water for agricultural and energy production are very acute. Previous centralized methods of planning, formation of independent countries and the emergence of national interests ...

Estimating the performance of international regulatory regimes: Methodology and empirical application to international water management in the Naryn/Syr Darya basin

[1] We develop a methodology for estimating the performance of international regulatory regimes in the context of transboundary surface waters. Our performance metric relies on assessments, over time, of actual performance, counterfactual performance, and optimal performance. The metric is of practical relevance as a diagnostic tool for policy evaluation. Thus it provides a starting point for p...

Climate change and international water conflict in Central Asia

We engage in a critical assessment of the neo-malthusian claim that climatic changes can be an important source of international tensions, in the extreme even militarized interstate disputes. The most likely scenario is conflict over water allocation in international catchments shared by poorer, less democratic, and politically less stable countries, governed by weak international water managem...

Assessment of water quality in Blinaja River Basin (Kosovo) using the Canadian Water Quality Index (WQI)

Kosovo has limited natural water resources which should be well managed. This is recently realised through quantitative and qualitative monitoring of both surface and groundwater and by characterizing their quality according to their destination. In this paper, the Water Quality Index (WQI) developed by the Canadian Council of Environment Ministers (CCME WQI) was applied to evaluate the groundw...

A Landscape-Based Ecological Classification System for River Valley Segments in Michigan's Upper Peninsula

–I developed a classification system for streams in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (UP) using a landscape-based approach that was originally developed for Lower Peninsula (LP) Michigan streams. Multiple linear regression, cluster analysis, and graphical techniques were used to examine stream attribute data (stream size, temperature, hydrology, gradient, water chemistry, valley type, fish community,...
